AMD Q2 2026 Earnings Preview
AMD heads into Q2 2026 with a tricky challenge: strong current growth, but a stock that already prices in future product rollouts turning into profitable revenue. The quarter is expected to be solid — the key question is whether AMD can credibly bridge roughly $11.3B in quarterly sales to the much larger second‑half figures baked into Wall Street’s forecasts.
Analysts expect AMD to report EPS of $1.61 (up from $0.48 a year earlier) on revenue of $11.31 billion, a 47.1% year‑over‑year increase.
Key highlights:
AMD’s strong server-chip momentum has investors focused on two things ahead of today’s Q2 earnings: robust current server demand and the upcoming ramp of its new rack‑scale offering.
Q1 showed strong demand: revenue rose 38% to $10.25B, data‑center revenue jumped 57% to $5.78B, free cash flow hit a record $2.6B, and data center accounted for 56% of revenue and 64% of combined segment operating profit—underscoring AMD’s growing reliance on data centers.
FactSet-tracked analysts expect adjusted EPS of $1.62, up 237% year‑over‑year, though last year’s figure was hurt by China export‑control–related inventory and charges.
Susquehanna analyst Christopher Rolland said demand for AMD’s EPYC server CPUs “remains robust,” noting the company raised its TAM estimate to $220 billion by 2030.
Christopher also said AMD’s Q2 will likely beat forecasts thanks to its data‑center business (CPUs and GPUs), as agentic AI has surged server‑chip demand and in some cases driven CPU‑to‑GPU ratios toward parity.
Wall Street noted a recent shift in AMD’s investment narrative: server CPUs are gaining prominence alongside AI GPUs.
At last month’s Advancing AI event, CEO Lisa Su raised AMD’s AI server‑CPU TAM to $220 billion by 2030 (up from $120 billion in May), attributing the jump to rapid adoption of AI agents that require far more CPUs to orchestrate workloads across AI clusters.
Analysts Expectation:
Susquehanna raised its price target to $500 from $450 and maintained a "Positive" rating, saying recent customer announcements support the upcoming ramp of AMD's MI450 AI platform, which is expected to begin shipping later this year.
UBS raised its price target on AMD to $730 from $700 and kept a Buy rating, saying the Advancing AI event bolstered its long-term outlook by highlighting substantial server‑CPU growth potential.
Morgan Stanley’s Joseph Moore reaffirmed a Hold and $410 target, forecasting strong results led by AMD’s server‑CPU business with “early confidence on MI455 but limited near‑term upside.” He highlighted AMD’s Advancing AI update that lifted the long‑term server TAM to about $220 billion by 2030—nearly double the prior $120 billion—indicating stronger intra‑quarter customer demand.
